The Heritance Ahungalle

The Heritance Ahungalle Located on a prized expanse of sandy beach in Ahungalle 76 Km from Sri Lanka's capital Colombo, the Heritance Ahungalle was Sri Lanka's first ever star class beach resort. Blissful privacy is provided by the thick coconut groves on two sides of the property and the watery depths of the Indian Ocean on the third. The small fishing town of Ahungalle and its neighbour Ambalangoda both boast idyllic palm-fringed fine golden sandy beaches lapped by warm, aquamarine waters.

The Heritance Ahungalle (formerly known as the Triton Hotel) is a creation of world renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa, Sri Lanka's most influential and prolific architect and South Asia's leading guru of tropical architecture. With an oeuvre spanning almost 50 years encompassed a wide range of work mostly in south-west Sri Lanka. The Heritance Ahungalle is one of those works.

The 154 rooms are in contemporary shades of black, beige and gold with clean modern lines, and elegant contours. Each with a sumptuous en suite bathroom and a balcony or terrace with spectacular views of the Indian Ocean.

Exotic holiday locations make for exotic weddings. Heritance Ahungallle is no exception. With its gentle breezes, glistening pools and majestic columns, there is romance all around this spectacular property.

The Heritance Ahungalle offers an exotic wedding package, with champagne and canapes, an elephant at hand to carry the couple away into the distance, as well as a special five course dinner on the wedding night. The deluxe package also includes a fireworks display and a tree planting ceremony all in honour of the newlyweds.

The open verandas at the Hotel lead to two sprawling swimming pools. Other than swimming, there is also a variety of leisure activities including tennis, badminton, volleyball, table tennis, billiards, a games room and water sports such as water skiing.

For shopping, the neighbouring town of Ambalangoda is brimming over with small outlets of quintessential local crafts like carved masks, batiks, antique Dutch period furniture and handloom textiles.
